Scott Harrigan is an experienced and successful insurance lawyer. He is a member of the firm’s Insurance Litigation, Claims, and Consulting Group.
Scott has more than 15 years of combined experience in the insurance field. Prior to joining the firm as counsel, he was the Managing Attorney of the Schwartz Law disability claims services team. Before attending law school and becoming a lawyer, Scott was an Analyst for a major New York City insurance brokerage company and a Financial Consultant with a major national health insurance company. These prior positions in the insurance industry, in addition to his Master’s Degree in Business, enhance Scott’s depth of experience and perspective on all insurance matters.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Clark University, his MBA from Dowling College, and his Juris Doctorate from Touro’s Jacob D. Fuchsburg Law Center. In law school, Scott served an intern for the Honorable Leonard Silverman, a Justice in the New York Court of Claims. Scott is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and he is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Scott’s broad array of experience allows him to analyze and develop winning strategies for the insurance claims of the firm’s clients. His extensive working knowledge of ERISA and experience working on ERISA governed claims also provides him with many of the tools that Schwartz Law uniquely employs in the health insurance and disability insurance arenas. From both legal and financial perspectives, Scott provides clients with the information they need to make fully informed decisions regarding their claims, ERISA appeals, settlement offers, or litigation. He has successfully provided legal representation, claims management, and obtained settlements on millions of dollars in insurance benefits.
His knowledge in the field of disability insurance, combined with his reputation in the industry for honesty, fairness, and professionalism, has resulted in millions of dollars of policy buy-outs and settlements for both private and group disability policyholders. Scott has helped disabled individuals from all occupations, including medical doctors, surgeons, dentists, chiropractors, veterinarians, lawyers, accountants, executives, business owners, Wall Street brokers, sales people, computer consultants, and insurance claim representatives.
