Unum Presses Hard to Deny Mental Illness Claims

Unum’s disability claims offices are increasing the number of claim denials and terminations on its group disability claims that involve mental illnesses. Unum’s practices have been the subject of a widespread government investigation. Unum has routinely terminated mental illness claims at the two-year interval (a time frame indicated in most group policies), even when the claimant has other physically disabling conditions. Unum has also been very aggressive in denying mental illness claims from the outset, without justification.

Evan Schwartz founder of Schwartz, Conroy & Hack, formerly QS, has had great success in obtaining results for clients who have had their claims denied or terminated by Unum or any of its subsidiaries (Paul Revere, Provident and First Unum). If you would like to speak to one of our attorneys about a Unum claim, fill out the contact form and we’ll contact you as soon as possible.
