Fixing Errors and False Assumptions

Our client, a critical care physician in Michigan, suffered from substance abuse and addiction problems. After he was caught stealing drugs from his place of employment, he was fired from his job. He filed a claim and was initially paid, but then benefits were cut off when two of his treating physicians stated that he could return to work.

We filed a lawsuit in federal court in Michigan and fought back hard. We exposed weaknesses in the insurance company’s case in deposition testimony of the insurance company’s employees. We fought to corrected errors and false assumptions about our client’s medical conditions and convinced the insurance company to take a realistic second look at his claim. After filing pretrial legal briefs and pressuring the insurance company in various ways, we convinced them to pay a substantial settlement to our client.
